 Vighnaharta Ganesha 

 

"Vighnaharta Ganesha, your glory we sing,
You break all obstacles, joy you bring.
Your power is mighty, known far and wide,
Yet humble you are, as you flow with the tide."

"Today has arrived, Anant Chaturdashi,
In your immersion, there’s sorrow, so heavy.
From form to formless, you return to the sea,
Your teachings will stay, in our hearts they’ll be."

"Whether your strength, or your gentle grace,
With your blessing, Kaumudey walk in a peaceful space.
O Ganesha, your hand keeps us from harm,
With your virtues, our lives stay warm."

 

 

Let us get the explanation

"Vighnaharta Ganesha, we hail your glory,

You shatter obstacles, bringing deliverance.

Your mighty power is known across the world,

Yet how humble you are, dissolving into the waters."

In this stanza, the poet praises the immense power of Lord Ganesha, who is known as Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles. He solves the problems of his devotees and clears their path. While his strength is revered across the world, what stands out even more is his humility. This humility is symbolised by his willingness to dissolve into the water during the immersion ceremony. Through this act, Ganesha teaches us that no matter how powerful one is, maintaining humility is of utmost importance.

Second Stanza

"Today is the day of Anant Chaturdashi,

There is sorrow in the heart as we prepare for your immersion.

From the tangible form to the formless you shall return,

As your teachings settle deeply into our hearts."

In this stanza, the poet refers to Anant Chaturdashi, the day of Ganesha's immersion. There is a feeling of sadness in the hearts of the devotees as they bid farewell to their beloved deity. The line “from the tangible form to the formless” reflects the transition from a visible, physical representation of Ganesha to an invisible, spiritual presence. This stanza symbolises the transformation of the divine from the material to the immaterial, urging us to internalise his teachings within our hearts and actions.

Third Stanza

"Whether it is your power or your mark of humility,

Through your grace, Kaumudey  carry the vow of auspiciousness.

O Ganesha, your hand rests upon us,

And by your virtues, we are blessed on this life’s path."

In this stanza, the poet talks about Ganesha's dual nature—his power and his humility. Both are equally significant, and with his blessings, the Kaumudey the devotee can carry forward the vow of auspiciousness and righteousness. The phrase “your hand rests upon us” implies that Ganesha’s blessings and protection are always with the devotees. His virtues guide them, ensuring that their life’s journey is filled with goodness and success.

 The poem’s central philosophy is that Ganesha is not just the remover of obstacles, but also an embodiment of strength and humility. His teachings guide us to balance power with humility, which is crucial for a fulfilling life. The immersion of Ganesha during Anant Chaturdashi symbolises the transition from the physical form to the formless, teaching us that true devotion lies in internalising his virtues and wisdom.

विघ्नहर्ता गणेश

विघ्नहर्ता गणेशा, तुझा जयजयकार,

अडथळे तू फोडतोस, करतोस उद्धार।।

तुझ्या शक्तीची महती, अवघ्या जगात,

केव्हडी विनम्रता तुझी, जळी विरघळण्यात।।

आजचा दिवस आला, अनंत चतुर्दशी,

तुझ्या विसर्जनाला, मनोमनी उदासी।।

पाण्यात सगुण विलीन, निर्गुणी होण्या

तुझी शिकवण हृदयाचरणी बाणण्या।।

शक्ती असो तुझी, की नम्रतेचा ठसा,

तुझ्या कृपेने, आम्ही वाहू मांगल्यचा वसा।।

गणराया, आहे तुझा, कौमुदेयावर हात,

तुझ्या गुणांनी सज्ज, ही आयुष्याची वाट...।।

कवि कौमुदेय यांनी लिहिलेली ही कविता अत्यंत साध्यासोप्या भाषेत असली तरी, पण गहन तत्वज्ञान सांगणारी आहे. या कवितेमध्ये गणपती बाप्पाच्या शक्ती आणि विनम्रतेचं गुणगान गायलं आहे. चला आता या कवितेतील प्रत्येक ओळीचा साध्या, सरळ भाषेत अर्थ पाहू.

पहिलं कडवं...

"विघ्नहर्ता गणेशा, तुझा जयजयकार,

अडथळे तू फोडतोस, करतोस उद्धार।

तुझ्या शक्तीची महती, अवघ्या जगात,

केव्हडी विनम्रता तुझी, जळी विरघळण्यात।।"

या कडव्यात गणपती बाप्पाच्या शक्तीचं वर्णन केलं आहे. तो विघ्नहर्ता आहे, म्हणजे अडथळे दूर करणारा आहे, आणि तो आपल्या भक्तांच्या जीवनातील अडचणी सोडवतो. गणेशाची शक्ती संपूर्ण जगात प्रसिद्ध आहे. पण त्याचं वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे त्याची विनम्रता — जळी (पाण्यात) विरघळून जाण्याच्या कृतीतून त्याची नम्रता दिसून येते. या कृतीतून गणपती आपल्याला शिकवतो की कितीही मोठं सामर्थ्य असलं तरीही विनम्रता राखणं आवश्यक आहे.

दुसरं कडवं...

"आजचा दिवस आला, अनंत चतुर्दशी,

तुझ्या विसर्जनाला, मनोमनी उदासी।

पाण्यात सगुण विलीन, निर्गुणी होण्या,

तुझी शिकवण हृदयाचरणी बाणण्या।।"

या कडव्यात अनंत चतुर्दशीची महिमा आहे, जो की गणपती विसर्जनाचा दिवस आहे. या प्रसंगी भक्तांच्या मनात एक प्रकारची उदासी-खिन्नता असते, कारण गणेश मूर्तीचं पाण्यात विसर्जन केलं जातं. "सगुण" म्हणजे गुणधर्मांनी भरलेलं, म्हणजे गणपतीची मूर्ती. विसर्जनानंतर तो "निर्गुणी" होतो, म्हणजे अदृश्य होतो. या कडव्यात मूर्त रूपातून अमूर्त स्वरूपात जाण्याचं तत्त्वज्ञान सांगितलं आहे. गणपतीची शिकवण आपल्या जीवनात रुजवून घेणं, हेच खरं भक्तीचं सार आहे.

तिसरं कडवं...

"शक्ती असो तुझी, की नम्रतेचा ठसा,

तुझ्या कृपेने, आम्ही वाहू मांगल्यचा वसा।

गणराया, आहे तुझा, कौमुदेयावर हात,

तुझ्या गुणांनी सज्ज, ही आयुष्याची वाट...।"

या कडव्यात कवि कौमुदेय यांनी गणपतीच्या शक्तीबरोबरच त्याच्या नम्रतेचं देखील महत्त्व सांगितलं आहे. गणपतीची कृपा असली की आपण मांगल्य (सर्व चांगल्या गोष्टींचा) वसा घेऊन जगू शकतो. "कौमुदेयावर हात" या वाक्याचा अर्थ असा की गणपतीचा आशीर्वाद नेहमी आपल्या पाठीशी आहे. त्यामुळे आयुष्याची वाट त्याच्या गुणांनी सजवलेली आहे, म्हणजे गणपतीच्या शिकवणींनी आपलं जीवन सुंदर आणि समृद्ध बनतं.

या कवितेतील मुख्य तत्त्वज्ञान हे आहे की गणपती आपल्यासाठी केवळ अडथळे दूर करणारा देव नाही, तर तो शक्ती आणि विनम्रतेचा एक आदर्श आहे. त्याची शिकवण आपल्याला सांगते की भलंमोठं सामर्थ्य बाळगून देखील विनम्र राहणं महत्त्वाचं आहे. विसर्जनाच्या वेळी, मूर्त रूपातून अमूर्तात जाण्याचा विचार हा जीवनातील स्थित्यंतरं आणि त्यातून घेता येणाऱ्या शिकवणींवर प्रकाश टाकतो.
